Before you floats a symbol the size of a frog. Everyone recognizes it as an A rune in their native language.

The A is one of twenty-six varieties of letters, the grammatical counterpart of the Moignos native to the Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus. They are not terribly social, but they do tend to congregate with other letters. They tend to float about 5 feet off the ground, at eye level to most Medium-size creatures. An A understands all languages, but doesn't speak, besides its A chant.,The A is one of twenty-six varieties of letters, the grammatical counterpart of the Moignos native to the Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus. Combat
A's avoid fights if at all possible, but attack anyone who makes a grammer mistake with their points.

Breath Weapon (Su): 5 ft. cone of A's. 1d4 damage + 1 Wis damage + 1 Int gain. Ref save DC 15 halves the damage and negates the Wis damage and Int gain. A creature hit with this attack gains 1 point of Intelligence, which lasts until the Wisdom damage is healed. Creatures immune to ability damage do not recieve the Intelligence gain.
A Chant (Ex): An A constantly mutters words beginning with A to itself. Anyone listening closely to this chant is affected as if by a random action spell.

An elemental possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature's entry).

  • Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, and stunning.
  • Not subject to critical hits or flanking.
  • Unlike most other living creatures, an elemental does not have a dual nature-its soul and body form one unit. When an elemental is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don't work on an elemental. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection, to restore it to life.
  • Elementals do not eat, sleep, or breathe.

Extraplanar Subtype: A subtype applied to any creature when it is on a plane other than its native plane. A creature that travels the planes can gain or lose this subtype as it goes from plane to plane. Monster entries assume that encounters with creatures take place on the Material Plane, and every creature whose native plane is not the Material Plane has the extraplanar subtype (but would not have when on its home plane). Every extraplanar creature in this book has a home plane mentioned in its description. Creatures not labeled as extraplanar are natives of the Material Plane, and they gain the extraplanar subtype if they leave the Material Plane. No creature has the extraplanar subtype when it is on a transitive plane, such as the Astral Plane, the Ethereal Plane, and the Plane of Shadow.
