Taryn's Amazing Hoopak of Movement and Power
donated by Taryn Pickenhands
Description: A 2.5' staff made of hard yat supple
wood, that is cupped and netted at one
end and has a spear point at the other
end. The Handle is sometimes hollowed
out to hold useful objects, like silk
rope or stones for ammunition.
History: I first made this hoopak when Jomar
showed me a portal to another world.
On that world there were some men in
light armor running around in a field
of grass with weird white lines on it.
They were throwing a ball around using
their Hoopaks and I wanted to go join
them but Jomar stopped me saying that I
was stupid. *sniffle* Can you believe
that guy he says he's my friend... I
don't think friends call friends
stupid, he's just stupid! Any way,
after I saw that I went into the
Storeroom and found a lot of really
neat things... oh, nut then three days
later I remembered the really neat
sticks and rebuilt my own Hoopak. But
since the destruction of the tower, I
haven't had any time to build more and
we haven't gotten near any Kender towns
so I carry the only one in the world.
How it Works: This Hoopak can be thrown as a spear
(for normal damage), or handled like a
LaCrosse stick for added velocity on
all projectiles (+2 to Attack, Damage
becomes 1d6+1). It can still be used
as a normal Hoopak but it is not as
accurate that way (-2 to Attack rolls,
Normal 1d4 damage). As a tool the
hoopak can be used to gather fruit from
the lower tree branches, like an apple
picker, or to scoop items up off the
floor or out of holes or water. As a
musical instrument, this hoopak can be
swung in a cicle and it emits a low
bullroar. |
