Koplus' Hoopak
donated by Temrin Wanderer

Description:

It is a regular sized hoopak with a solid Mithril spearhead on one end and the leather of the sling on the other end is made from the hide of a slain owlbear. The top and bottom can be screwed off and revealing a hollow shaft that can be used as a blow gun. Embeded directly above the spearhead is a small red emerald that radiates a magic. Carved around the emerald are runes that say "Koplus' spirit. 'Tis what becomes of those who dare defy the great Archmage Malis." Up and down the rest of the hoopak are magicaal runes.

History:
The item was originally just a magic hoopak that had been enchanted by a white robed wizard that was a friend of a kender. It eventually reached the hands of the kender Koplus. Koplus was a kender that was fascinated with magic. He would travel anywhere to view new magical items and spells. His obsession with magic eventually led him to the tower of the foul archmage Malis. He stumbled in, just as Malis was casting a spell that would create a new race of draconians. This spell could only be cast on the night of the eye when the moons were exactly lined up. Koplus' interuption broke the wizards spell. Malis was furious. He set upon Koplus and cast a spell that was supposed to destroy Koplus' body and banish his soul to an eternity of boredom in the abyss however, in his fury he miscast the spell, and though the body was destroyed, the soul was instead imprisoned in the hoopak. The archmage left his tower after that night, and the hoopak remained there. Years later Temrin Wanderer stumbled upon the tower and
the tower and went inside. After a hard fight against many magical guards Malis had set, he made it to the top of the tower. There, he found Koplus' spirit sitting and brooding on a bench next to a dusty hoopak. Upon seeins Temrin, he brightened up and explained how his spirit was trapped in the hoopak (which in itself wasn't so bad) and how he couldn't go very far away from the hoopak. Temrin quickly took up the hoopak and vowed to find away to free Koplus' spirit. He journeyed for several days looking for a way to free Koplus' spirit, but that quest was soon forgotten as another one came up. Koplus, however, is still in the hoopak , but he doesn't complain since he gets to see new sights and go on adventures with Temrin.

How it Works:
Koplus' hoopak works as an enchanted hoopak, and Koplus' spirit can be brought out. The spirit of Koplus can come out whenever he wants at night, but once a week during the day, the hoopak can be held high and if Koplus' name is shouted outloud, Koplus will be able to come out that day for the rest of the day. Koplus' spirit can not go more than ten yards away from the hoopak, but can fight like any normal person however, if killed or knocked unconcious, the spirit is transfered back to the hoopak where it must stay for a ten day period.
