The kobold had been lost in the underground passages for days now. “Some great treasure.” He muttered to himself. “Stupid stupid stupid. Mal and his plans. Common Fetch, let’s find the treasure of Zhakar. Rich beyond our wildest dreams. Bleh. Lost beyond my wildest dreams. I don’t even know which way is up.” The kobold continued to mutter and whine as he walked alone in the darkness. It wasn’t until he nearly stumbled into the underground lake that he stopped.
Looking around, the kobold froze and listened to his surroundings. He could hear the moving water but all else was still. He sighed and kicked a rock into the water. There was no where left to go, but back up the passage. The waters edge went straight up to the mouth of the tunnel. But before he could turn around a sound did come to his ears. It was the sound of something making it’s way down the passage toward him. Cursing his bad luck Fetch crouched against the wall as small as possible.
A figure emerged from the tunnel speaking to itself “My precious. My love. Where did this new rockses come from I wonder?” Try as he might, hiding from Gollum was something Fetch simply couldn’t do down here. This was his home. He had spent hundreds of years here and knew every rock and crevice. The addition of a new figure along the floor had caught his attention.
Fetch jumped up and brandished his weapon. “What is it my precious? “ Gollum wondered allowed, seemingly unconcerned at the hoopak pointed in his face. “Perhaps we sit here and chats with it a bitsy my precious or perhaps we simply eats it now. Gollum, Gollum!” Gollum growled.
The kobold had heard of the disease ridden Zhakar dwarves before, but had never seen one. He assumed this was what he was facing now. Maybe if he just could just get one good hit on it, he could make his way past it and outrun it. It seemed like his only chance. Fetched braced himself to attack.
