Frodo stumbled about the mountains in a delirious state. “I will take the ring to Mordor!” he had screamed at Sam. “Go Home! I don’t need you any more.” Now he was regretting that mistake. Gollum had betrayed him and taken him to the lair of a great spider. Which was following him now. He was sure of it. But he just couldn’t see it anywhere. The world was lurching beneath his hairy feet as he stumbled around.
What if it wasn’t a spider at all? But a figment of his clouded mind? He didn’t know for sure. All he could do was make sure that he kept moving forward and keep the ring with him. He would always keep his precious. He would never permit anyone to take it from him. Not Gollum. Not Sam. Not some bloody giant spider. It was his burden to bear. A figure broke away from the shadows of a ridge. Was it a hobbit? If it was it was a strange hobbit in deed. Glaring colors and carrying an odd looking axe. What was he doing here in these evil lands?
Kronn looked at the ring on his finger. Wow, that wizard wasn’t kidding when he said this ring could take me anywhere, he thought to himself. Where was he anyway? It looks like the Khalkists he thought to himself. Sanction must be right around here somewhere. Spying a traveler Kronn approached him. “Hello! I was wondering-“ Kronn stopped speaking as he got a better look at the person before him. At first he thought it was a gully dwarf, but then he noticed the height and the ears and his heart fell into the pit of is stomach. Another broken, afflicted kender. He, himself was afflicted. The fall of Kendermore of devastating and sometimes he found kender wandering around half-insane, but never this far from Kendermore.
“You can’t have the ring!” Frodo shouted, his feverish mind was lost in a state of confusion. “Don’t you try to take it!” He pulled sting from his scabbard, brandishing it before the bandit.
Confused, Kronn answered, “But I already have the ring see?” he held up the ring he had found in the wizards tower. “I borrowed it from a white wizard. Now just relax and everything will be ok.”
The sight of the ring and the mention of the white wizard drove Frodo over the edge. “You are working with Saramon!?! How could you! Give me the ring!” he lunged forward.
Kronn skipped back. He wasn’t exactly sure what the wizards name was, but he wasn’t about to give the ring to this poor afflicted kender. He may just have to knock him out first and then talk to him as he woke up. Reluctantly Kronn raised his chapak in his defense and prepared to fight.
